Before he became the beloved straight man to a talking horse on television’s Mr. Ed, Alan Young charmed radio audiences with his quick wit and everyman charm in The Alan Young Show. This collection brings together over 26 hours of vintage situation comedy spanning from 1944 to 1949, offering a rare and delightful glimpse into the early career of a performer who learned his craft while bedridden with asthma, listening to the very medium he would one day master. Born in England and raised in Canada, Young’s journey from a one-man show called Stag Party to a starring role on American radio is woven into these episodes, described by contemporaries as “routine situation comedy” laced with “rapid-fire gags.”
